Soraya Coley

Provost, CSU Bakersfield


Prior to Dr. Soraya M. Coley joining the National Center and CFF as a Senior Research Fellow, she was the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs at Alliant International University. Dr. Coley has over 25 years of administrative and 22 years of academic experience, including serving as Dean of the College of Human Development and Community Service at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), where she was responsible for management of the third largest college on the campus, with 169 full-time equivalent faculty, 25 staff, and nine departments.

Dr. Coley's scholarly articles have appeared in numerous publications, and she has presented widely about education, educational administration, human service delivery, multicultural issues, and domestic violence. She has also received numerous honors and awards including the National Association of Women Business Owners' Education Advocate Award, Outstanding Faculty of the Year and Most Valuable Instructor at CSUF. She was selected as "One of Ten Women Making a Difference" by Orange County Metro magazine. Dr. Coley earned her MSW and PhD degrees in Social Planning and Policy at Bryn Mawr College, in the School of Social Work and Social Research.
