Claudia Alvarez Perez is currently a Program Associate with the National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare at Children and Family Futures (CFF). In her role as Program Associate, she provides technical assistance in cross-systems collaboration in various projects.

Ms. Alvarez transitioned to her current position after completing a Master in Social Work internship with Children and Family Futures, working primarily with the National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare Technical Assistance Program. Prior to working with CFF, Ms. Alvarez served as clinical intern at Rancho Santiago Community College District’s Head Start Program, working with low-income immigrant communities through the provision of case management, bio-psychosocial assessments, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams in a child development educational setting. Ms. Alvarez is bi-cultural and bilingual and exhibits an understanding the complexities associated with working with underrepresented communities of color.

Ms. Alvarez holds a Master Degree in Social work from the University of Southern California, with a concentration in Community, Organizing, Planning and Administration (COPA). As an MSW student, Ms. Alvarez worked with professors on the Project Access Inc., Longitudinal Study examining the effectiveness of onsite services provided to low-income residents living in affordable housing communities in Southern California. Ms. Alvarez received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Chicana Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles.
